Eek! A scraplift tutorial

Sometimes I love dark, scary, creepy stuff. Today is such a day.

I made this layout as a scraplift from the You Lift Me Up challenge for the second part op november.
The inspiration was a lovely cute and very girly layout made by NatalieC. I'll show you.

You might question how I could make a layout, inspired by the pink and purple one above, and make it dark and creepy. Well, it's because I look at a layout and get my inspiration from several things.
  • colors
  • shapes
  • themes
  • photos
From this, you have to pick a few to work from. In this case I obviously picked shapes.

I copied the inspiration layout into photoshop where I already opened a new 12x12 inch canvas with a resolution of 300 dpi.

Then, with the shape tool, I trace the obvious shapes in the layout. In this case: the paper pieces such as the band and the photo. Trace it with you shape tool and rasterize layout afterward. Pull the layout down under the inspiration layout and continue.

If you click on the eye of the layout with the inspiration layout, it would give you a template like this.

You could even go on and add flowers, leaves, and other shapes or elements to you template.
I don't usually do that though. I only make the layouts that I need to clip papers to and to make the overal look visible. I usually only start dealing with the little stuff, once the bigger view is visible. But it's totally up to you!

When you're ready: start clipping those papers and photos! Add elements, a title and voila! You've scraplifted a layout!
