SDD is closing at the end of the year

Hi all!

I have some sad news from digiland. One of my digital 'homes': Scrappity-Doo-Dah will be closing it's doors at the end of december. Just like this: abrubt, suddenly and as a huge and sad surprise the news came a few days ago. And we just have to deal with it. I know some of it's members are in serious shock and quite a few designers have decided to resign for good. This has made a incredible big impression to the costumers and community, I can't tell.

Most of the designers have amazing sales because of this, so you should really take a look in the store!

Ok, on to the layouts I've made in the last few months. There aren't a lot since I was very busy to make sure I graduated my bachelor of education. Which I did by the way, last monday I had my last interview and I nailed it!

Pixels & Company > new store!

Luckily there is also a new store opening at the start of 2013! Pixels & Company is it's name and you have to keep updated on Facebook to know which awesome designers will be joining. I am already so exited with the designers added now!

This is what I made for my students using these card templates and the Deck the Halls kit by Amy Stoffel. (Remember me talking about that christmas grab bag I bought during DSD? This kit was also in it!)

By the way, this card will come with these Reindeer Noses treat bags I saw on Pinterest. Then today, Kate Hadfield designs posted amazing printables for just these treat bags! They are super and I will totally print them to use myself.

Anna Designs

Here are two layouts made with kits by Anna Designs. The style Anna has is very typical and lots of people love it. I myself love layouts made by others in this style. But I am not very talented in this style myself. I had a hard time making these, I hope you will like it.

Eek! A scraplift tutorial

Sometimes I love dark, scary, creepy stuff. Today is such a day.

I made this layout as a scraplift from the You Lift Me Up challenge for the second part op november.
The inspiration was a lovely cute and very girly layout made by NatalieC. I'll show you.

You might question how I could make a layout, inspired by the pink and purple one above, and make it dark and creepy. Well, it's because I look at a layout and get my inspiration from several things.
  • colors
  • shapes
  • themes
  • photos
From this, you have to pick a few to work from. In this case I obviously picked shapes.

I copied the inspiration layout into photoshop where I already opened a new 12x12 inch canvas with a resolution of 300 dpi.

Then, with the shape tool, I trace the obvious shapes in the layout. In this case: the paper pieces such as the band and the photo. Trace it with you shape tool and rasterize layout afterward. Pull the layout down under the inspiration layout and continue.

If you click on the eye of the layout with the inspiration layout, it would give you a template like this.

You could even go on and add flowers, leaves, and other shapes or elements to you template.
I don't usually do that though. I only make the layouts that I need to clip papers to and to make the overal look visible. I usually only start dealing with the little stuff, once the bigger view is visible. But it's totally up to you!

When you're ready: start clipping those papers and photos! Add elements, a title and voila! You've scraplifted a layout!

Color me Frosty by Dagi's Temp-tations

I had the privilege to work with a brand new set of templates this week by Dagi's Temp-tations: Color me Frosty. It's a template pack with a winter theme, it has snowflakes everywhere and the colors are your fab. Of course, you can edit a template completely so you can also totally scrap sunny beaches with this frosty template pack. I did a snowy layout.

Here are the amazing templates. So elegant!
You can grab there templates for $2,79.

And here is the layout I made while I should have been doing school work. But I just really wanted to scrap! And so I did. ;)

I used a new kit I bought during DSD: Frosty and Friends by Amy Stoffel. It was part of a holiday grab bag by Amy Stoffel. I got this, and two other full kits for only $4,50!! I so love DSD!
Especially since I visited the store again to look op the direct link for you and saw that only this kit is now priced for $6,49!! OMG! But it is an amazing kit.

By the way, have you seen Dagi's Temp-tations is looking for you?
Check this out, you only have 1 day left to reply. I love her style and if you look at the last requirement, I am sure she is a great and lovely designer!

Falling for You by Partners in Crime

As a brand new Sparrow I am assigned to two designers this month: Partners in Crime and Anna Designs. Partners in Crime has two new releases today: Autumn Memories and Falling for you.

I choose to work with Falling for you because I just love the great bright colors. I am finding monochrome colors and faded colors hard to work with.

And here is what I made. I found the photo online, isn't it just perfect?
